Afterpay

What is Afterpay?

Afterpay offers simple instalment plans for online shoppers, allowing a purchase to be paid for in four instalments, due every 2 weeks.

Simply shop with one of your favourite stores found in the Shop Directory and choose Afterpay as your payment method at checkout. First-time shoppers provide payment details as usual, returning shoppers simply log in to make their purchase. It’s that easy!

After you check out, the goods will be shipped to you. At any time, you can log in to your Afterpay account to see your payment schedule and make a payment before the due date. Otherwise we will automatically take the money from your debit or credit card every 2 weeks.

Please Note:

Afterpay does not approve 100% of orders. Afterpay are committed to ensuring we support responsible spending.

When determining which orders to approve, Afterpay considers a number of different factors. As an example, the longer you have been a shopper with Afterpay and the more orders you have successfully repaid, the more likely you will be able to spend more.

Who can use Afterpay?

Afterpay is available to people who:

  • Live in New Zealand;
  • Are at least 18 years old;
  • Are capable of entering into a legally binding contract;
  • Have a valid and verifiable email address and mobile number; and
  • Use a New Zealand credit or debit card to make the purchase.

You do not need to register prior to making your first Afterpay purchase.

When you are making a purchase with one of our favourite stores found in the Shop Directory, simply choose Afterpay as your payment method at checkout. If it’s your first time using Afterpay, you will provide payment details as usual to complete your purchase.

Once your first order is approved, your Afterpay account is created. All you need to do is visit www.afterpay.com to set up a password, and you will be able to make more purchases using Afterpay by simply entering your log in details upon checkout.

Make shopping even easier by downloading our APP - now available at APP store and Google Play.

How do I use Afterpay?

Simply select Afterpay as your payment method during the checkout process.

What does it cost to use Afterpay?

Nothing, as long as each of your payments reaches Afterpay by the due date.

What are the fees for late payment?

You can make repayments to Afterpay any time BEFORE the due date. Otherwise, Afterpay will automatically try process payments on the scheduled dates from your card. If a payment is not processed on or before the due date, late fees will apply – initial $10 late fee, and a further $7 if the payment remains unpaid 7 days after the due date.

For each order below $40, a maximum of one $10 late fee may be applied per order. For each order of $40 or above, the total of the late fees that may be applied are capped at 25% of the original order value or $68, whichever is less. See Schedule 1.

If you won’t be able to pay us on time, please contact us as soon as possible.

When will my first payment be taken?

In New Zealand - you will more than likely pay the first instalment of the purchase price at the time you place the order.  If you have been shopping with Afterpay for some time, and have a really good repayment history.  You may find that we defer taking the first payment until 2 weeks after you make your purchase.

In all cases you will be notified on screen if the first payment is due there and then or if it will be deferred by 2 weeks.

First payment higher than the other three?

For some purchases, if your total order amount exceeds your Afterpay-approved spending limit  The first payment may be higher than subsequent payments. Afterpay will show you how the instalments are split before you pay.

Is Afterpay safe and secure?

Yes, Afterpay understand how important security is so we ensure that your personal information is protected. Afterpay is a PCI DSS Level 1 certified compliant Service Provider organisation. PCI DSS is a comprehensive set of requirements created by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council to enhance cardholder data security and to ensure the safe handling and storage of sensitive credit card information and data.
